Dear Sisters, Brothers,
Your Unifor Local 247 Executive Board is pleased to announce that after a lot of feedback from Members, and much research, thought, debate, and meetings with group benefit providers, Unifor Local 247 has made the decision to change our group benefit provider from Global Benefits to Blue Cross effective October 1, 2023. Your benefits will remain the same with a couple small changes that are to you and your family’s advantage.
Blue Cross is a Canadian leader in proving comprehensive group benefit plans to family’s coast to coast. With an easy-to-use online portal for you to submit and track any claims, and prompt customer service, we are confident this was the best decision for all Unifor Local 247 Members.
An OPEN ENROLLMENT, without having to prove insurability, starts now and until October 1, 2023.
You must complete and submit a new application confirming participation in the Unifor Local 247 Benefits plan or decline coverage in the group benefit plan and provide proof you are already enrolled in group coverage through another benefit provider. Enclosed with this letter is the Blue Cross group benefits application and waiver of coverage. Please complete it.

Blue Cross will also be emailing you the enclosed group application that can be easily completed online and returned directly to them. Choose whatever way is easier for you to return your group benefit application. Your union will also be adding the application form, new benefit summary, claim forms and more to your website, unifor247.com for easy access.
Your union will be holding 3 Unifor Local 247 Benefits Information meetings to review the Blue Cross online portal, answer questions and gain your valuable feedback via zoom link on Monday, September 18, 2023 with three convenient time for you to join;

Eastern 10:00am - 3:00pm - 7:00pm
Atlantic 11:00am - 4:00pm - 8:00pm
Newfoundland 11:30am - 4:30pm - 8:30pm
You will also receive and email notification of this letter that includes the Zoom link to the meeting and the Unifor Local 247 Benefits group application. You will receive an email notification the night before the meeting too.
